Islamabad: Pakistan has urged the international community to devise a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of Gaza in accordance with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions. Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan made the statement during the weekly press briefing in Islamabad, emphasizing the need for accountability of Israeli actions in what he described as a "brutal war."
“Accountability for the crimes committed by Israel is an essential element in restoring international legitimacy,” Khan stated.
Welcoming the recent ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the spokesperson reiterated Pakistan's unwavering support for a two-state solution, highlighting the importance of peaceful coexistence based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
Khan also condemned the recent Israeli raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank, which resulted in the killing of 10 Palestinians. He warned that such aggressive actions could jeopardize the fragile ceasefire in Gaza.
“These actions undermine the precarious ceasefire in Gaza, and the international community must take note of them,” he added.
The FO’s remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Pakistan consistently advocating for justice and peace for the Palestinian people on international platforms.
